Description

Windows machines (locally installed) can now be monitored (easy migration phase 1) as well as used for other virtual environments.

Usage

A node with windows installed locally can be integrated into openQRM by installing the file <base dir>/qrm/plugins/win/install/QRMinfod-win32.exe on the node. This will install the monitoring agents on the node and create a virtual environment, like easy migration phase 1 for linux nodes.

For use of the node for other virtual environment, the node should have a PXE enabled network card and the PXE boot should be before local boot.

Technical Details

When a virtual environment is in easy migration phase 1 (local kernel), the PXE file for the nodes it has is linked to a PXE file that says to boot locally. When one of these nodes boots, it tries to do a PXE boot, but because of the PXE configuration file it will receive a reply to go to the next boot service, which is the local harddisk.

When the virtual environment is stopped, the PXE file is linked to a real PXE file that tells the node which kernel to boot from. The node then can be used for any linux server whos kernel is selected by PXE(meaning, not local)

On the windows side, the execution and monitoring agents have been ported to work on windows. The installation binary works like qrm_configure_node_monitor.
